Team Manager & Coach Documentation Manager / Coach

Tools for allocating players, setting lines, running Coaches Notes, and awarding players — available to any user assigned the team manager role for a team.

Allocating players to users

Open a player's profile and go to the Assigned Users tab (see Player Details: Assigned Users) — this tab is only visible to team managers and admins. From there you can link a user account to that player in two ways:

Scan the user's QR code

  1. Ask the parent/player to open Profile → Players → Show My QR Code on their own device.
  2. From the player's Assigned Users tab, tap to scan — the scan screen reads "Scan a QR code to assign <player name> to a user account."
  3. Point your camera at their QR code. The account is linked immediately once scanned.

Search for a user

  1. From the same Assigned Users tab, use the search option instead of scanning.
  2. Search by the user's name or email address.
  3. Tap the matching result to assign that player to their account.
A player or parent can also initiate the link themselves, from their side, by submitting a Request Player Assignment request instead of you scanning or searching — see Reviewing player assignment requests below.
Penalty box duty is assigned from the game itself, not the player profile, and separately for each team: open Game Details → Roster for an upcoming game and tap Allocate Attendant (or Reassign) on your team's own Penalty Box Attendant card, then pick a roster player or clear the assignment. This is only editable before the game is completed.

How to change player availability

On Game Details → Roster for an upcoming game, tap any player in the In / Out / Unknown roster lists to open their availability for editing — this works for any player on your team's roster, not just players linked to your own account. Use this when a parent calls in their child's availability rather than setting it themselves in-app.

How to manage lines

Open Game Details → Roster for a game and tap through to Manage Lines. Lines are built per game and cover:

Line 1 / 2 / 3 Left Wing Centre Right Wing Left Defence Right Defence Goalie

Tap any position tile to open an Available Players list and assign a roster player to that slot. Lines are visible to the whole team once saved, giving players a clear view of who's playing where for that game.

Whiteboard

Draw plays and animations on a digital rink from the Whiteboard page, reachable from the main menu and the bottom navigation bar — handy for planning line-ups and set plays away from a specific game.

Coaches Notes (games & players)

Coaches Notes are free-text notes visible only to managers and admins of your own team — the opposing team's notes (on a shared game) are kept completely separate and never visible to you.

Assigning Team Awards

Don't confuse Team Awards with Game Stars. Game Stars (1st/2nd/3rd star) come straight from HockeySyte and can't be edited in-app. Team Awards are created by your team inside Swayzes and generate a shareable player card image — see Game Details: Awards and Division Awards for how both are displayed to everyone.

On a completed game's Game Details → Awards tab, find your team's awards section (Home or Away) and tap Allocate Awards — each team's awards are allocated independently, so you only manage your own team's, even when viewing a shared game. Choose a recipient from your roster for each award — the app generates a player card image automatically, showing the recipient's stats for that game (goals/assists/points for skaters, or shots faced/saves/save % for goalies), which players and parents can then view, download, and share (see Division Awards).

Reviewing player assignment requests

When a player or parent submits a Request Player Assignment request (see Players & Parents: Getting linked), you're notified and the request lands in Assignment Requests — reachable from the main menu, visible to anyone who manages at least one team or holds the Admin role.

Notifying users for game availability / check-in

From the roster list on Game Details → Roster, players still marked Unknown show a reminder icon — tap it to send that one player a push notification prompting them to set their availability for the game. Tap Notify All instead to send the same reminder to every Unknown player on the roster in one tap. Once notified, a player's name shows a Notified timestamp underneath so you can see who's already been chased and who hasn't.

Team Settings: adding team managers

From a team's Team Settings page, tap Add Team Manager and choose how to find them:
